An earlobe correction is a quick and simple minor surgical procedure to correct split, torn or stretched earlobes. The operation is performed under local anesthesia and is a short treatment.
The earlobe is the lower, fleshy part of the ear that is sometimes pierced. The area consists of a vulnerable piece of fat and skin. This area may be split or torn due to heavy or overloaded earrings. Or the earlobes may be stretched with tunnels.
Split earlobes are usually caused by the earrings being pulled through the hole. Also, wearing earrings (especially heavy earrings) can make the hole longer and eventually pull through the hole. People with thin earlobes are more likely to have this.
If you are interested in having your split earlobe, dilated piercing hole or stretched ear piercings corrected, take advantage of a free, no-obligation consultation at Aesthetic Beauty Center. During the appointment, our surgeon will discuss the options based on his extensive experience in surgery. It is a quick, simple procedure with excellent results and little recovery time.
You will be invited for a consultation prior to any surgery. During this appointment you will meet the doctor who will operate on you. The doctor will listen to your wishes and provide you with expert and honest advice about the possibilities, limitations, risks and possible complications. The aim of the interview is to go through all aspects of the treatment with you. The doctor can determine whether the desired outcome can be achieved, may recommend an alternative, will review your medical history, and may request preoperative testing relevant to your surgery. Furthermore, photos are always taken for your medical file. This is for our own administration. Nothing will ever be shared with third parties without your permission. Finally, the doctor will provide you with advice for the recovery period after surgery.
As soon as you make an appointment, you will receive a confirmation by email and a medical questionnaire. It is important that you fill this in carefully, so that our doctor can take this into account in preparation for the ear lobe correction.
The following topics will be discussed during the consultation:
The correction takes place under local anesthesia. As a result, you are not allowed to consume alcohol for two weeks before the operation. You do not need to fast during the operation. We would like you to eat and drink something. Just don't eat too heavy. You may feel a bit nauseous from the overdose.
If you are taking blood-thinning medications, you should inform your treating physician. In consultation with your doctor, you can stop taking painkillers and blood thinners, such as arbasalate calcium (Ascal) and acetylsalicylic acid (Aspro or Aspirin), two weeks before the procedure.
If you are using Marcoumar or Sitrom, we recommend that you stop taking them in consultation with the thrombosis service and your treating physician.
The procedure takes approximately 45-60 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia. The doctor makes a new wound in the earlobe and neatly stitches the new wound closed, causing the torn skin to bond back together. You will not feel anything during the procedure.
After the operation you can go home straight away. Because you have had surgery and received medication, you are not allowed to drive yourself. We recommend having someone pick you up.
The anesthetic injections may still be sensitive after the procedure. You may also experience residual pain. You are allowed to take paracetamol to reduse the pain.
It is important that you avoid pressure as much as possible during the first two weeks after the operation. That means no exercise and no heavy household chores. When sleeping, it is best to use two or three pillows for 3 days to keep your head upright as much as possible.
The wound should not get wet for 48 hours. You can simply shower for the rest of your body.
You may wear makeup after the procedure. Just don't put any make-up on the wound.
Sports or other heavy physical exertion causes extra pressure. We therefore advise you to avoid this type of exercise during the first two weeks after the procedure.
You should not leave the treated area unprotected in the sun. Wounds and bruises can cause pigmentation. Furthermore, do not seek out heat sources such as the sunbed and the sauna. This slows down the recovery process.
Alcohol use is not permitted two weeks before and after the procedure. Alcohol thins the blood, which can cause the wounds to bleed more than normal during and after the procedure.
A check-up will take place 2 to a maximum of 3 weeks after the treatment, if necessary. If the result is not completely satisfactory, for example due to an asymmetry, bumps, etc., we will treat you free of charge. The filler should be built up. The more often your lips are injected, the better the filler works.
We offer an earlobe correction from €500.
An earlobe correction is an aesthetic procedure. The purpose of the procedure is therefore not to improve your health. The purpose of the procedure is to improve your appearance. Interventions without medical necessity are generally not reimbursed by insurers. If you would like to know more about reimbursements, we advise you to contact your insurance company.
A local anesthetic is sufficient for this procedure.
When your skin is cut, you will be left with a scar. Thanks to the experience and expertise of our surgeon, the scar will be minimal.
