When your skin heals itself after active acne or an injury, such as a burn or scrape, it is often left behind in the form of a scar. Scar formation is a normal part of the body's immune responses: your white blood cells rush to the wound to fight infection, producing new collagen fibers that hold the skin together in the process. These collagen fibers are what we call scars.
Scars, even small ones, can make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. Hiding and camouflaging makeup can help, but you may also want to undergo treatment to reduce the impact of the scar.
