Belkyra, also known as Kybella, is a treatment to reduce fat under the chin without surgery. A doctor injects deoxycholic acid into the fatty tissue under the chin. This substance breaks down fat cells, which the body then clears on its own. You usually see the final result after 6 to 8 weeks.
Fat cells that have been broken down do not come back. The remaining fat cells can grow larger if you gain a lot of weight. Sometimes a second treatment is needed for the result you want. The doctor discusses this with you during the intake.
