If no alternative treatments (like laser) are advised, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

The area around the scar will be disinfected and marked. The skin is then numbed, and the existing scar is carefully removed. The wound is sutured using a technique that promotes improved healing. The stitches and bandages will be removed after 1 to 2 weeks during a follow-up appointment at the clinic.

During a scar revision procedure, the entire existing scar is surgically removed. The new wound is then closed in a way that encourages more aesthetically pleasing healing. Various treatment options may be discussed during your consultation, including whether laser treatment might be more suitable for your scar type

Scar healing takes time. The final result will not be visible until approximately one year after the procedure. Using scar cream and applying high SPF sunscreen after the treatment is essential for optimal results.

Expect a short recovery period following the treatment. Swelling and bruising are normal side effects and typically fade after a few days. Cooling the area is allowed.

Once the wound is closed and any scabbing has disappeared, begin applying scar cream to improve healing. Additionally, protect the area with sunscreen. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for the best results.
